Terahertz Applications Group

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

Axel Delivers Invited Lecture at IRDG 213

Axel presented a summary of terahertz applications to the Infrared and Raman Discussion Group meeting held at the Renishaw Headquarters in Gloucestershire

Axel's presentation titled 'Terahertz Spectroscopy - Probing Molecular Interactions in Small Organic Molecules' gave the audience a nice overview of the current work being performed in the Terahertz Applications Group. Topic included monitoring polymorphic transformations and crystallisation, determining amorphous stability, and determination of polymeric elasticity. The talk was well received, generating much interest from the attendees.

Other presentations included the use of inelastic neutron scattering measurements to monitor catalysis, the applications of diamond vacancies and F-centers to optically detected magnetic resonance, and using Raman spectroscopy to characterize biological materials.
