The TSB awarded a grant to the Terahertz Application Group to develop a terahertz sensor for automobiles paints measurement
Dr Axel Zeitler has been awarded £240,000 from the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) for the project entitled: “An innovative method of controlling and optimizing car painting processes.”
In this project, our team plan to develop a terahertz sensor that is capable of performing real-time measurements of the paint quality and layer integrity in real-time on a six-axis robot that can be directly employed in the spray booth of existing manufacturing lines.
This project started on January 1st, 2013 and our collaborators include Teraview Limited and Aston Martin Lagonda Limited with Dr Ke Su joining the team in the Terahertz Applications Group as a postdoc.
