Terahertz Applications Group

Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

The TAG was adventuring around Europe in September to show our latest terahertz work. We were on the stage of OIE2019 (Tallinn), IRMMW-THz 2019 (Paris), PSSRC2019 (Düsseldorf), and the last but not least, MSSC2019 (London).

The journey started from the Cambridge train station. Everyone was excited about the coming presentations and poster sessions.

Prince was having fun on a ferry at OIE2019. He reunited with the large group in Paris.

September was the time when conferences followed one after another. It was the first time that TAG2019 travelled together for such a long time, even colleagues back in Cambridge started to miss us! With posters rolled up, presentations made, and bags packed, we were ready to start our journey of showing the world what TERAHERTZ can do.

Aside from science, we had a great gathering picnic in front of the Invalides with Dr. Emma MacPherson's group from Warwick, UK, and our friends from Syracuse, US.

For most of us, IRMMW is the largest conference we have ever attended. It is surprising how many people are working in this area, and also the variety of topics there are. Not only were we inspired by the talks of top scientists, but also enjoyed the time while discussing with people about our own research.

The latest version of the TAG photo taken at PSSRC2019. Mohammed, Ray, Adam, Johanna, Prince, Axel, Talia, and Qi.

"It is a great chance to practice presentation skills and to ask questions." That is what Axel always says about PSSRC, and also what we all did in Düsseldorf.

Nothing could be better than taking a group photo after all the amazing presentations. Bye bye Düsseldorf! Looking forward to seeing everyone next year in Helsinki #PSSRC2020!

PSSRC was not the last stop for Adam, Johanna, and Qi. The DFT group went to the MSSC2019 workshop in London afterwards, and had a really good time with CRYSTAL17 for a week.
